IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Himachal, Uttarakhand and Several Other States
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings for several parts of the country as an active monsoon system continues to bring widespread rain.
States including Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to witness intense rainfall over the coming days. Warnings have also been issued for parts of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and other regions depending on local weather conditions.
According to the IMD, the active monsoon is likely to trigger heavy showers, thunderstorms and lightning in several areas, increasing the risk of waterlogging, flash floods, landslides and traffic disruptions.
HILLY STATES ON HIGH ALERT
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand remain among the most vulnerable regions due to the possibility of landslides, mudslides and overflowing rivers.
Authorities have advised residents and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel through landslide-prone areas and to follow local administration advisories.
DELHI, GUJARAT AND RAJASTHAN TO SEE INTENSE SPELLS
Delhi-NCR is likely to receive periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, which could lead to waterlogging and slow-moving traffic in low-lying areas.
Gujarat is expected to continue receiving heavy monsoon showers, while parts of Rajasthan may also witness intense rainfall in isolated locations.
CIVIC AGENCIES ON ALERT
State disaster management authorities and local administrations have been asked to remain prepared for any weather-related emergencies.
Emergency response teams have been placed on standby in several states to deal with flooding, road blockages and other monsoon-related incidents.
PUBLIC ADVISED TO REMAIN CAUTIOUS
The IMD has urged people to monitor official weather updates, avoid flooded roads and stay away from rivers, drains and landslide-prone areas during periods of heavy rain.
Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea along affected coastal regions due to rough weather conditions.
The active monsoon is expected to keep rainfall activity above normal in several parts of the country over the next few days, and authorities have appealed to the public to follow official advisories for their safety.
