Bigg Boss 20 Grand Premiere: Salman Khan Returns for a New Season of Drama

Bigg Boss 20 Grand Premiere: Salman Khan Returns

The Bigg Boss house is open again, with Salman Khan returning to the host’s chair as Bigg Boss 20 launched its milestone season with a grand premiere on September 6, 2026.

The new season continues the show's long-running combination of celebrity personalities, house rivalries, friendships, nominations and unexpected twists, while introducing a new mystery-driven format.

Salman Khan Back in the Host's Chair

Salman Khan once again led the opening night, marking another chapter in his long association with the reality franchise.

The premiere featured Salman introducing the new season and welcoming contestants into the Bigg Boss house. He also brought his trademark humour and interaction with the participants to the launch.

The milestone season comes after years of Salman becoming closely associated with the Hindi edition of Bigg Boss. He has now hosted 16 seasons of the show since first taking on the role in 2010.

A New Bigg Boss Era

Bigg Boss 20 was promoted around a central mystery and unexpected twists, with the makers teasing viewers through clues before the premiere.

The season also introduces new game mechanics, including the much-discussed “Extra Jeevan Daan” concept, designed to give contestants another opportunity in the competition.

New Contestants Enter the House

The premiere brought a diverse group of contestants from television, entertainment, sports and digital platforms into the Bigg Boss house.

Among the confirmed names are Kanika Mann, Aasif Khan, Mary Kom, Aman Gandhi and Isha Rikhi, alongside other contestants who will form the season's central cast.

The mix is expected to create contrasting personalities and plenty of competition as the season progresses.

JioHotstar Gets the First Window

Bigg Boss 20 follows an OTT-first viewing model.

The grand premiere streamed first on JioHotstar at 9 PM, followed by the television telecast on Colors TV at 10:30 PM.

The strategy gives digital viewers early access while retaining the show's established television audience.

A Milestone Season Begins

With its 20th season, Bigg Boss is entering a significant milestone in the franchise's history.

The return of Salman Khan, a new group of contestants and the mystery surrounding this season's twists have created strong attention around the show.

For viewers, the real test now begins inside the house — where alliances, arguments, friendships and nominations will determine who survives the Bigg Boss journey.
