Delhi-NCR Under Yellow Alert as IMD Forecasts More Rain

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR, forecasting more rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds as monsoon activity continues across the region.

According to the weather department, intermittent showers are expected over the next few days, which could provide relief from high temperatures but may also lead to waterlogging, traffic congestion and reduced visibility during peak travel hours.

Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious while commuting, especially in low-lying areas that are prone to flooding after heavy rainfall. Motorists have been urged to drive carefully, while pedestrians are advised to avoid waterlogged roads and open drains.

The civic administration has directed emergency response teams to remain on standby to address incidents such as fallen trees, water accumulation and power disruptions if required. Drainage systems are also being closely monitored to minimize the impact of heavy showers.

The IMD has also warned of isolated spells of intense rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in parts of the National Capital Region. Residents are encouraged to follow official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain.

The yellow alert serves as a precautionary warning, urging the public to stay prepared while authorities continue monitoring the evolving weather conditions across Delhi-NCR.
