Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out of 3rd ODI vs West Indies With Hamstring Injury, Anshul Kamboj Named Replacement

Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out of 3rd ODI vs West Indies With Hamstring Injury, Anshul Kamboj Named Replacement

India have suffered an injury setback ahead of the third and final ODI against the West Indies, with fast bowler Prasidh Krishna ruled out after sustaining a left hamstring injury during the second match in Guwahati. The BCCI named Anshul Kamboj as his replacement in the squad.

Prasidh Picked Up Injury in Guwahati

Krishna was forced to leave the field during the second ODI after bowling only five overs. He finished with figures of 1/45 before the injury prevented him from completing his spell.

The BCCI subsequently confirmed that the pacer would miss the third ODI because of the hamstring issue.

Anshul Kamboj Added to India Squad

The selectors have brought Anshul Kamboj into the ODI squad as Krishna's replacement.

Kamboj was part of the India A setup playing Australia A in Puducherry and was called up to join the senior team ahead of the final ODI.

The third ODI is scheduled for October 3 in New Chandigarh.

India Already Lead the Series 2-0

The injury comes after India secured the three-match series by taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.

The second ODI in Guwahati produced a remarkable run chase. West Indies scored 405/7, but India chased the target in 43.3 overs, winning by eight wickets.

With the series already decided, the third ODI provides India with an opportunity to complete a clean sweep while also managing its bowling resources.

Another Squad Change for the T20Is

The BCCI also announced a separate change to India's upcoming T20I squad. Washington Sundar was withdrawn from the T20I series to focus on red-ball preparation ahead of the Test series against New Zealand, with Naman Dhir named as his replacement.

Why It Matters

Krishna had been part of India's pace attack during the ODI series, making his absence another selection consideration for the final match. Anshul Kamboj now gets an opportunity to join the senior ODI setup as India prepares for the series finale.

TVR Perspective

India have already secured the series, but Krishna's injury changes the bowling options for the final ODI. The inclusion of Kamboj also gives the team an opportunity to assess another pace option at international level.

Sources & Verification

The injury update and squad replacement were verified against the BCCI's official announcement, with additional confirmation from the ICC and The Indian Express.
