Ayushmann Khurrana’s Udta Teer Postponed Again, Now Releasing on October 23

Ayushmann Khurrana’s Udta Teer Postponed Again, Now Releasing on October 23

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s upcoming film Udta Teer has been postponed again. The film, which was earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 9, 2026, will now release on October 23. The makers said the change was made to secure a cleaner theatrical window amid a crowded October release calendar.

Second Release-Date Change

This is the second postponement of Udta Teer. The film was initially scheduled for September 11 before being moved to October 9. It has now been pushed back by another two weeks to October 23.

The film's team said its trailer and promotional campaign had generated encouraging interest and that the new date would provide a stronger theatrical window rather than competing for screens in a crowded marketplace.

Drishyam 3 Adds to the Crowded October Calendar

The latest change comes shortly after Drishyam 3: The Conclusion opened in theatres on October 2. Reports have linked Udta Teer's postponement to the crowded October schedule and the strong opening of Drishyam 3.

Other releases and preview screenings are also occupying the October calendar, including Gondhal beginning exclusive previews on October 9, while Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam and Nayyi Navelli are scheduled for October 16.

What Is Udta Teer About?

Directed by Akash A Kaushik, Udta Teer is an action-comedy built around espionage, mistaken identity and satire.

Ayushmann Khurrana plays Bilal, a Pakistani intelligence operative who loses his memory and comes to believe that he is an officer with India's Counter-Terrorism Squad. Sara Ali Khan plays a fellow CTS officer.

The supporting cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev and Raghubir Yadav.

The film is produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, with Karan Johar, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain among the producers.

New Release Date

With the latest announcement, Udta Teer is scheduled to reach cinemas on:

October 23, 2026

The date has been announced by the makers, although theatrical schedules can still change.

Why It Matters

The repeated change illustrates how India's theatrical calendar can shift when several major films compete for screens and audience attention within the same period. For Udta Teer, the makers have specifically cited the need for a less crowded release window and a stronger theatrical run.

TVR Perspective

The postponement is not a cancellation. Udta Teer remains scheduled for theatrical release, with the makers moving it two weeks later to October 23. The key change is the timing, as the film moves away from the increasingly crowded October 9 window.

Sources & Verification

This report was verified against October 2–3, 2026 reports from NDTV, Hindustan Times, India Today, The Indian Express, Times of India and Bollywood Hungama. The October 23 release date was announced by the film's makers.
