Yash’s Toxic English Version Releases Today With Shorter Cut
Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is getting a new theatrical release in India today, September 4, 2026, with its English-language version arriving in select cinemas.
The release comes after the film's Kannada and dubbed Indian-language versions opened in theatres on August 26. The English version was originally written and shot alongside the Kannada version but was not initially released theatrically in India.
English Cut Is Shorter
The English version has been presented as a shorter cut of the film.
Its certified runtime is approximately 2 hours, 56 minutes and 52 seconds, compared with more than three hours for the longer Indian-language versions. Reports put the difference at roughly 17–18 minutes.
The shorter edit is expected to provide a tighter theatrical experience for audiences watching the film in English.
Select Indian Markets
The English version is being released in select major Indian markets, including cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
The film had already received an 'A' certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification for its English version.
Yash Leads the Film
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Akshay Oberoi.
The film is a period gangster drama and marks Yash's major theatrical return following the KGF franchise.
The English version is particularly notable because the film was actually written and shot in English, rather than being simply dubbed from another Indian-language version.
A New Opportunity for the Film
The English theatrical release gives Toxic another opportunity to reach audiences who prefer watching major Indian films in English.
The makers had already released the English version internationally on August 26, but Indian audiences initially had access primarily to the Kannada and dubbed versions.
With the shorter English cut now arriving in Indian theatres, attention will turn to whether it can attract additional audiences during the film's ongoing theatrical run.
