Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna Reunite in Ranabaali Ahead of October Release

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna Reunite in Ranabaali Ahead of October Release

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are back together on the big screen with Ranabaali, a period action drama directed by Rahul Sankrityan. The film has entered its final promotional phase ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on October 16, 2026.

The reunion has drawn attention because Ranabaali marks another major on-screen collaboration between the two actors, with Vijay playing the title character and Rashmika portraying Jayamma, his partner in the story.

Vijay Deverakonda in a Period Action Role

The recently released teaser introduces Vijay in a dramatically different setting from his contemporary urban roles.

Ranabaali is set against the backdrop of British colonial rule and depicts the hardships faced by people in the Rayalaseema region. The teaser presents Vijay's character as a figure who rises against oppression, with the story combining historical circumstances and action-driven storytelling.

Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo appears as the principal antagonist, adding an international name to the cast.

Rashmika Plays Jayamma

Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, who is connected to Vijay's character in the film.

The actor recently completed her portion of the shoot after returning to the sets following her recovery break. After wrapping her work, she shared an emotional moment with Vijay and the film's team.

The film therefore brings the pair together in a period setting rather than the contemporary romantic worlds seen in some of their earlier collaborations.

A New Collaboration After Dear Comrade

Vijay and Rashmika have previously appeared together in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Their chemistry from those films has remained a major point of interest among their audiences.

Ranabaali gives them another opportunity to share the screen, but the latest project places their characters inside a much larger historical and action-oriented narrative.

Rahul Sankrityan Directs

The film is directed by Rahul Sankrityan, who previously made Taxiwaala and Shyam Singha Roy.

The production is backed by Mythri Movie Makers, with T-Series presenting the film. Music has been composed by Ajay–Atul, whose score is expected to play an important role in establishing the period setting.

The makers have also been expanding the promotional campaign ahead of the release. A romantic song featuring Vijay and Rashmika, “O Mere Saajan,” is scheduled to arrive on September 21.

The Film's Historical Setting

The teaser establishes Ranabaali as a story rooted in the period of British rule in India.

Its promotional material focuses on drought, exploitation and the treatment of ordinary people under colonial authority, before introducing Vijay's character as a force of resistance.

While the film draws from a historical setting, the precise extent to which individual events and characters are based on documented history has not been fully detailed by the makers.

October 16 Theatrical Release

Ranabaali is currently scheduled to release in theatres on October 16, 2026, placing it in the Dussehra-period release calendar.

With its period setting, large-scale action, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's reunion, and Arnold Vosloo's presence, the film is now moving toward the final stage of its theatrical campaign.
