September 2026 Brings 19 Major Theatrical Releases Across Indian and Hollywood Cinema

September 2026 is turning into a busy month for moviegoers, with 19 notable films scheduled to reach cinemas across multiple languages and genres.

The month's theatrical slate stretches from Hindi crime dramas and action thrillers to Tamil sequels, Telugu cinema and major English-language releases, giving audiences a wide range of choices throughout the month.

Among the biggest names are Mirzapur: The Movie, Haiwaan, Sardar 2, I’m Game, Daayra, The Paradise and The Vvaan – Force of the Forrest.

September opened with major releases

The month began with I’m Game on September 3, starring Dulquer Salmaan alongside Antony Varghese, Mysskin, Kayadu Lohar and Samyuktha Viswanathan.

September 4 then brought three notable releases: Mirzapur: The Movie, Jeevan Bheema Yojana and the English-language action-horror film Onslaught.

Mirzapur: The Movie is particularly significant because it takes the hugely popular franchise from streaming into the theatrical space, bringing back familiar characters and actors including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu.

September 10 brings South Indian action

The next major release date is September 10, when Tamil cinema gets two prominent films.

Demonte Colony 3 continues the horror franchise, while Sardar 2 brings back Karthi in another chapter of the popular action-spy series.

The two films add further variety to a September calendar already dominated by crime, thriller and action titles.

Haiwaan leads the September 11 lineup

September 11 is another major theatrical date.

Haiwaan, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, is among the month's most anticipated Hindi releases. The Priyadarshan-directed thriller marks the duo's first major on-screen reunion in 18 years.

The same date also features the English-language films Fall 2: Deadpoint, The Uprising and Runner.

With four notable releases competing for audience attention, September 11 could become one of the month's busiest theatrical weekends.

September 18 brings a major mix

The September 18 lineup is particularly diverse.

Hindi releases include Vibe, starring Kunal Kemmu and Preity Zinta, and Daayra, featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

International cinema also arrives with Practical Magic 2, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, and the new Resident Evil film.

The combination of Bollywood, Hollywood franchises and different genres could make September 18 another important weekend at the box office.

The Paradise arrives on September 24

On September 24, Telugu cinema gets The Paradise, starring Nani, Kayadu Lohar and Raghav Juyal.

The film adds a major Telugu-language title to a month already featuring strong representation from southern Indian cinema.

September 25 closes the month strongly

The final major release date in the 19-film schedule is September 25.

The Vvaan – Force of the Forrest, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Tamannaah, Sunil Grover and Maniesh Paul, is among the key Hindi releases.

The same date also features English-language films Heart of the Beast, Primetime and an Avengers: Endgame Encore showing.

The 19-film count comes from the published September theatrical schedule and covers films across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English.

A month of franchises, stars and genres

What makes September particularly notable is the variety within the schedule.

There are established franchises such as Mirzapur, Demonte Colony, Sardar, Practical Magic, Resident Evil and Avengers, alongside new or standalone projects featuring major stars.

The month also provides a strong mix of crime, action, thriller, horror, comedy, drama and fantasy, potentially giving cinemas a sustained flow of releases rather than relying on one major film.

However, release calendars can change. The September schedule itself notes that some films could be postponed and additional announcements could emerge during the month.

September could become a key box-office month

With audiences receiving major releases almost every week, September 2026 could become one of the year's busiest theatrical periods.

The biggest attention is likely to remain on films such as Mirzapur: The Movie, Haiwaan, Sardar 2, Daayra, The Paradise and The Vvaan, while Hollywood franchises will compete for their share of the Indian theatrical audience.

For movie lovers, the message is simple: September is bringing cinema back into the spotlight with a packed 19-film theatrical calendar.
