Ajay Devgn’s Ranger Pushed to 2027 After December Release Plans Change

Ajay Devgn’s Ranger Pushed to 2027 After December Release Plans Change

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming action-adventure film Ranger has been postponed from its planned December 4, 2026 theatrical release and will now arrive in 2027. The film stars Devgn alongside Sanjay Dutt and Tamannaah Bhatia and is directed by Jagan Shakti.

The postponement was reported earlier in August, but a September 19 update from Bollywood Hungama confirms that the film will not release in 2026. The makers are now looking at a window after Eid in March 2027, although an exact release date has not been announced.

From December 2026 to 2027

Ranger had previously been scheduled for December 4, 2026. That date is now being vacated, changing the lineup for the crowded December period.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers are considering a post-Eid 2027 release and a summer window. The report says the film's jungle-adventure setting could suit the school and college holiday period.

The film's current listing also records its release year as 2027, while no specific date has been confirmed.

Ajay Devgn as a Forest Officer

According to an August report cited by multiple entertainment publications, Devgn plays a forest officer whose mission involves protecting tigers.

The story reportedly places his character against a network of poachers, with Sanjay Dutt playing the antagonist. Tamannaah Bhatia is also part of the principal cast. These plot details come from media reports and should be treated as reported film information until the makers release fuller official details.

The film is being produced by Luv Ranjan and directed by Jagan Shakti.

Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt Together in an Action Film

One of the major talking points around Ranger is the pairing of Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt.

Producer Luv Ranjan previously described the project as their first action film together, despite the two actors having worked together several times over their careers.

The film is positioned as a thriller/action-adventure project rather than a comedy or franchise sequel.

What Happens to the December 4 Slot?

The change also affects other films planned around the same period.

The December 4 date is now associated with an untitled comic film starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna, directed by Anees Bazmee, according to the latest Bollywood Hungama report. That film is expected to face a release-period clash with Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha.

Prabhas’ Fauzi has also been discussed in reports surrounding the December release calendar, although its eventual schedule remains subject to further announcements.

When Will Ranger Release?

For now, 2027 is confirmed as the release year, while a specific theatrical date has not been announced.

The latest report points toward a release after Eid in March 2027, potentially during the summer holiday period. The final date will depend on the filmmakers’ official announcement.

For Ajay Devgn, the change means Ranger will no longer be part of his 2026 theatrical lineup. His next major release is Drishyam: The Conclusion, scheduled for October 2, 2026.
