IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert Across Multiple States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alerts for several states as an active monsoon system continues to influence weather conditions across the country.

According to the IMD, states including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and parts of central and northern India are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the coming days. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also expected in isolated areas.

Authorities have advised residents living in low-lying and flood-prone regions to remain alert as intense rainfall may lead to waterlogging, flash floods, landslides in hilly areas and disruptions to road and rail transport.

State disaster management agencies have been placed on standby, with rescue teams monitoring vulnerable districts. Local administrations have urged people to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and to follow official weather advisories.

The IMD has also warned that rising river levels and overflowing drains could affect normal life in several urban and rural areas. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into rough sea conditions along parts of the western coastline.

Officials continue to monitor the evolving weather situation and have appealed to the public to stay updated through official forecasts as the active monsoon spell is expected to continue over the next few days.
