Deepika Padukone–Spirit Controversy Explodes Again After Fresh Claims
The controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone’s exit from Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit has erupted again after fresh claims from producer Pranay Reddy Vanga.
More than a year after Deepika’s departure from the project, the dispute has returned to the spotlight following allegations about remuneration, working hours, profit sharing and the handling of confidential information.
Deepika was eventually replaced by Triptii Dimri in the film.

Pranay Reddy Vanga, who is also the producer of Spirit and brother of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has alleged that several issues contributed to Deepika’s exit.
According to his claims, negotiations involved remuneration, working schedules and other contractual matters.
He also alleged that Deepika sought a 10% share of the film’s profits, in addition to discussions over her remuneration and working conditions.

Another major allegation concerns confidential information related to Spirit.
Pranay Reddy Vanga claimed that private discussions and details connected with the project were leaked, which reportedly increased tensions between the two sides.
These are allegations made by the producer, and Deepika Padukone has not publicly confirmed these specific claims.

Working hours have also become a major part of the controversy.
Earlier reports suggested that Deepika wanted an eight-hour working schedule.
The issue triggered a wider debate in Bollywood about actors’ working conditions, especially after discussions emerged over whether similar demands from male and female stars are treated differently.
Deepika had previously indicated that an eight-hour working day was not an unreasonable professional demand.

Deepika has not directly responded to Pranay Reddy Vanga’s latest allegations.
However, on August 22, she reportedly liked an Instagram post criticising the narrative surrounding her Spirit exit and discussing alleged double standards toward women in the film industry.
The post questioned why demands made by male stars can be viewed as professional negotiations while similar demands from women can attract criticism.

The controversy has become even more complicated after another report claimed that Deepika may never have received a complete narration of Spirit.
A source cited in the report claimed that the actress had met Sandeep Reddy Vanga only once and that Spirit was not initially part of her preferred projects.
The source also disputed the narrative surrounding the reasons for her exit. These claims remain unverified and are different from the account given by the producer.

Following Deepika’s exit, Triptii Dimri was brought in as the female lead opposite Prabhas.
Spirit is being directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and is currently scheduled for a March 2027 release.
The film remains one of the most anticipated pan-India projects because of the combination of Prabhas and the director of Animal.

The dispute had largely faded from the headlines after Triptii Dimri joined the film.
However, the latest interview from Pranay Reddy Vanga has reopened the issue and introduced new allegations that were not previously part of the public discussion.
Deepika’s reported social-media reaction has now added another layer to the debate.

The Spirit controversy has moved beyond a simple casting change.
It has triggered discussions about profit-sharing, actors’ remuneration, working hours, confidentiality and gender expectations within the film industry.
The competing accounts also demonstrate how difficult it can be to establish what happened behind closed doors when contractual negotiations are not publicly disclosed.
𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁
The Spirit controversy has exploded again after fresh allegations from producer Pranay Reddy Vanga about Deepika Padukone’s exit from the film.
His claims include a reported 10% profit-sharing demand and allegations involving confidential information, while a separate report has presented a different account of how Deepika viewed the project.
Deepika has not directly addressed the latest allegations, although her reported liking of a post criticising the narrative has intensified public discussion.
With Spirit now starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri and scheduled for 2027, the controversy surrounding its former female lead continues to generate headlines.
The competing claims remain disputed, and neither side’s version should be treated as an established fact without further confirmation.
